  • A personal thank you letter is an expression of appreciation . They attract attention and stand out. That helps keep the conversation going.
  • Correct
    If a conversation didn’t go well, the thank you letter gives you a (second) chance. You can pick up on mistakes, improve them or even correct them.
  • Arguing
    Perhaps not all of the top qualifications came up in the conversation. Then you can now deliver decisive arguments. That can bring the decisive advantage.

Thank you letter – when?

Ideally, you would like to say thank you within 48 hours – in person, by telephone or with a short thank you card. This makes it appear more immediate, more spontaneous and therefore more authentic. Your counterpart should have the thank-you letter on their desk no later than a week after the interview or meeting.
