NYU is one of the most coveted universities for international students, and for good reason:

WHAT IS THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS FOR NYU (BACHELOR)?
To apply to NYU you will need to complete an admissions file via the Common Application. It is an online admissions system used by more than 600 American universities. Via this platform you will have to fill in several parts including your personal and academic information, your extra-curricular activities as well as the field of study that interests you at NYU. You will also need to provide various documents:
- your high school transcripts (since 9th grade) and their translation.
- your admission test results (SAT and TOEFL/IELTS)
- letters of recommendation from your teachers and high school principal.
- Finally, you will have to complete the most dreaded part of the students: the Essays. You will be required to write the Common Application essay (choose from 7 options) and you will also be required to write the NYU-specific essay. In 2020, the topic was “Why NYU?” »

WHEN TO APPLY TO NYU?
New York University has two deadlines:
- November 1: this deadline called Early Decision allows you to apply earlier and therefore to have an admission response earlier as well. Please note: applying for Early Decision at NYU is what is called “biding” in university jargon. In other words, if you apply on November 1, you commit to entering the university if you are admitted.
- It is advisable to opt for this deadline only if NYU is the No. 1 choice.
- January 1: this is the regular deadline (Regular Deadline), which does not commit you.
- In order to give you time to complete all these steps, it is advisable to look into admission to NYU from the second year, in particular to have time to develop your extra-curricular activities as much as possible, which will play an important role in your file. admission, but also to allow you to best prepare for the various admission tests required (SAT, and English test) in order to aim for the best scores.
WHAT IS THE PROFILE OF STUDENTS ADMITTED TO NYU?
NYU is one of the most selective universities in the USA, so you will need to present an excellent file to hope to enter it. Here are the average grades and scores of students admitted to NYU in 2020:
- GPA (general average): 3.7/4.0 (16/20 minimum) or top 10% of the class
- SAT: between 1350 and 1530 (out of 1600)
- SAT math: between 700 and 800 (out of 800)
- SAT reading & writing: between 680 and 760 (out of 800)
- TOEFL: 100 (out of 120)
- IELTS: 7.0
STUDYING AT NYU, HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
A year of undergraduate studies at NYU costs $54,880. It will be necessary to add accommodation and food. An all-inclusive year costs an average of $74,124.
NYU is able to offer scholarships for international students. The latter must complete their CSS profile via the Collegeboard site before November 15 for students applying for Early Decision and before January 15 for students applying for Regular Deadline.
However, although available, scholarships at Bachelor level are rare and very selective, so there is no guarantee of funding.
